Now is your chance to get in on the exciting action at Michigan International Speedway in 2013, the fastest track in NASCAR. And the prices will never be lower.
Rochester Hills, Mich., native Brad Keselowski became the first Michigan-born driver to win NASCAR’s top prize in 2012 driving for legendary owner Roger Penske. He pulled out the championship in the final race of the season, fending off the challenge of five-time champion Jimmie Johnson.
“We are looking forward to an outstanding 2013 season and believe our ticket prices provide something for everybody,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “The 2012 season featured great racing and a season-long battle for the championship that came down to the last event. We cannot wait for the season to start and welcome fans back to MIS to see the best race car drivers on the fastest track.”
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will make a pair of stops at MIS in 2013. The opening race will once again be on Father’s Day weekend for the Quicken Loans 400 on June 16. The Pure Michigan 400 will take place on Aug. 18 and annually serves as an important race prior to The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
In 2012, Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the Quicken Loans 400. His last two victories in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series have come at MIS. Greg Biffle won the Pure Michigan 400 in August to give Roush Fenway Racing its 12th victory in the Irish Hills, the most of any organization at MIS.
All five racing series at MIS established new track qualifying records in 2012 as Marcos Ambrose won the pole for the June Sprint Cup race with a top speed of 203.241 mph, the 11th fastest pole speed in NASCAR history.
And that’s not all. With the Gen-6 NASCAR stock car making its debut in 2013, fans at the two-mile MIS will witness a return to the roots of the sport where competitors turned street cars into race cars. The Gen-6 cars look very close to their manufacturers’ street car models – Ford Fusion, Chevy SS and Toyota Camry. And driver feedback in winter testing has been overwhelmingly positive for exciting, edge-of-your-seat thrills.
And don’t forget: NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying returns to Fridays in 2013 at MIS.
The track’s opening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend in 2013 will be on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16. The Nationwide Series Alliance Truck Parts 250 race will be at MIS on Saturday, June 15. The ARCA Racing Series will race on Friday, June 14.
Sprint Cup will wind up its summertime stint only eight weeks later at MIS on Sunday, August 18, with the Camping World Truck Series on Saturday, August 17.
The track continues to keep ticket prices low for 2013. Race fans who purchase early will have the best prices and the best seats.
