The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, on the heels of Saturday’s race event at Salem Speedway in southern Indiana, will skip over the Ohio River and steer for Kentucky Speedway Tuesday, September 22 for a full day of open testing in preparation for the Crosley Brands 150 raceevent at Kentucky Friday night, September 25.
Several ARCA teams have already pre-entered the open test including NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers Ryan Reed (LiraMotorsports) and Daniel Suarez in a Venturini Motorsports Toyota. Venturini Motorsports also expects to be testing Brandon Jones and William Byron. Jones is already a two-time ARCA winner (2014) and Byron finished second in his series debut at Lucas Oil Raceway back in late July.
Lira Motorsports is expected to bring four cars to the open test, one of which will be occupied by Reed, who started the season with a win in the Xfinity Series at Daytona. Reed also won his first ARCA race back in June at Chicagoland Speedway. Other entrants for Lira Motorsports include ARCA’s leading SCOTT Rookie of the Year contender David Levine, Sevierville, Tennessee’s Blake Jones (ARCA winner at Talladega) and Easley, South Carolina’s Kyle Benjamin, a two-time ARCA winner at Madison and Salem.
Austin Cindric, son of Penske Racing headman Tim Cindric, is also entered, as is ARCA Pocono winner Cole Custer in a Haas Automation Chevrolet.
ARCA Racing Series point leader Grant Enfinger is also expected along with Cunningham Motorsports’ Tom Hessert and Kyle Weatherman. Weatherman has already clinched the Calypso Lemonades Short Track Challenge championship for 2015. Will Kimmel, from nearby Sellersburg, Indiana, has also filed an entry for the open test.
Louisville, Kentucky’s Bo LeMastus is entered. LeMastus’ company Crosley Brands is the title sponsor for this year’s ARCA race at Kentucky. Austin Wayne Self is also entered for the defending ARCA championship team Mason Mitchell Motorsports. Wheeling West, Virginia’s Travis Braden, who won earlier this year in his series debut at Lucas Oil Raceway, is also expected to test with a plan to make his superspeedway debut in the Crosley Brands 150.
Tuesday’s ARCA open test at Kentucky will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run up to 5:00 p.m., with an hour break for lunch from noon to 1. ARCAracing.com will feature live timing and scoring of all on-track activity.
Tickets for the Sept. 25 Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway are on sale, along with Fan Zone passes that provide close-up views of driver introductions and more. Ticket packages and campsites are on sale now at KentuckySpeedway.com, (859) 578-2300 and the speedway ticket offices at 1 Speedway Drive in Sparta, Ky., just off Interstate 71 Exit 57 and Kentucky Hwy. 35 North.

In addition to the titlesponsor, Crosley will award its signature jukebox to the Kentucky Speedway race winner.
